On this Palm Sunday, we remember that Jesus rode into Jerusalem not on a war horse, like leaders of the past, but on a donkey. He was a different kind of leader—one who didn’t create change through power or violence, but through powerlessness and nonviolence. He could appear small and weak only because he was so great and strong. Ralph Waldo Emerson once remarked that “A great [person] is always willing to be little.” Jesus invites us to be great by being little, too.
